Our First SAM Newsletter Launching Next Month – Share Your Updates with us!

Dear SAM Members & Friends,

We’re thrilled to announce the launch of our first-ever SAM newsletter, set to be released in March 2025! This monthly edition will keep our community informed about the upcoming events, recent announcements, new Members and key updates from our members.

To extend the members benefits for our SAM Members, we would love to feature your updates in our monthly newsletter! Our newsletter will be release on every first Monday of the month and it will be shared with SAM members and the community.

If you have any recent announcements, promotions, or exciting news to share for March, we invite you to submit them by 23 February 2025. This is a great opportunity to showcase your business, initiatives, or achievements to our network.

To submit your content, please send it to samprogrammanager@sam.com.mm with the subject line “Newsletter Submission – March 2024”.

Please kindly note that all the contents will be reviewed and approved by the SAM Secretariat Team. SAM reserves the right to decide the publishing of the contents.

SAM AGM 2024 & Election of Exco 2024-2026

On 21 August 2024, Singapore Association of Myanmar (SAM) conducted the hybrid Annual General Meeting (AGM) to update our members on what the outgoing executive committee had accomplished during its term and to elect the new executive committee for 2022-2024.
 
We would like to thank the 59 SAM members who joined our AGM in person at Sedona Hotel Yangon and via Zoom and voted in the new executive committee, together with 12 SAM members who were unable to attend but have sent in their proxy votes.
 
Finally, we would like to thank the outgoing Exco 2022-2024: Mr Freddy Oh, Mr Lim Chong Chong, Mr Brandon Lye, Mr Melvyn Chung, Mr Sridhar P Raman, Mr Thu Zaw Oo, Mr Smith Tun, Mr Michael Howe, Mr Minn Naing Oo, Mr Michael Leong, Mr Alvin Law, Mr Jeff Foo, Mr Jonathan Low, Mr Mike Than Tun Win, Ms Amalia de la Costa and Ms Crystal Win for your contribution to the Singapore Community in Yangon during your term.

Invitation to SAM Annual General Meeting 2024 on 21 August 2024

Dear SAM Members,

We appreciate all your support during these uncertain and difficult time.

As the term of the current SAM Executive Committee is ending, it is timely for us to update all members of SAM’s activities and achievements to-date. In this light, we would like to convene the Annual General Meeting (AGM).

Notice is hereby given of the Annual General Meeting (AGM) to be held on 21 August 2024 (Wednesday), 4.00 – 7.00 p.m. MMT (dinner included). The AGM will be in hybrid format and the venue shall be at Sedona Hotel Yangon.

Please confirm your attendance for the AGM by sending an email with the subject title “Confirmation of Attendance for SAM AGM 2024” to sam.secretariatoffice@gmail.com, by 19 August 2024 (Monday), 12 noon. MMT. Upon receipt of your email, we will send you a confirmation email with the dial-in details and instructions for the AGM (if you are attending the AGM virtually).

The Agenda for the AGM is as follows:

  1. Opening Remarks
  2. Approval of Minutes of the previous AGM
  3. Report of SAM’s activities in, and accounts for, 2022-2024
  4. Approval of the Reports
  5. Election of the SAM Executive Committee 2024-2026

Would you like to volunteer your service and play an active role in contributing to the Community? We encourage you to step forward and join us in the 2024-26 SAM EXCO.

Nomination Form

Each nomination for a position on the Executive Committee must be supported by two members (a proposer and a seconder), with this form duly signed. Any form that is not signed by two members will not be accepted.

If you would like to submit nominations for positions on the Executive Committee, nominations can be made ahead of the AGM, by submitting a nomination form to us by 16 August 2024 (Friday), 12 noon MMT:

  1. via email at: : sam.secretariatoffice@gmail.com with the subject title “Nomination Form for SAM AGM 2024”; or
  2. in person at the SAM Secretariat Office

By 19 August 2024 (Monday), 12 noon MMT, we will send a collated list of nominations to all members for you to check your nominations. If the person that you have nominated has not been included in the list, please inform us by 20 August 2024 (Tuesday), 12 noon MMT, so that we can include your nominee(s) in the list before the AGM.

Proxy Form

If you are unable to attend the AGM but still wish to cast your vote during the AGM, please fill in the attached proxy form and send it to us at: sam.secretariatoffice@gmail.com with the subject title “Proxy Form for SAM AGM 2024”. Please note that all proxy forms must be received by the Secretariat by 20 August 2024 (Tuesday), 12 noon. MMT. Upon receipt of your proxy form, you will receive a confirmation email from the SAM Secretariat.

SAM Special General Meeting & SAM Members’ Night 2024

On June 13, 2024, SAM hosted the Special General Meeting (“SGM”) and SAM Members’ Night 2024 at PARKROYAL Yangon.
SAM members participated both in person and virtually at the SGM. During the SGM, Mr. Freddy Oh, the president of SAM, delivered the Opening Speech and Mr Minn Naing Oo, SAM Exco Member, provided updates on SAM’s Incorporation Process, along with a comparison of Status Quo versus Incorporating SAM by Mr Melvyn Chung, SAM Secretary.
A Q&A Session engaged the members during the meeting.
Following the SGM, Mr. Smith Tun, Head of SAM Social Committee, commenced the SAM Members’ Night 2024, featuring Singaporean Hawker Food for the attendees.
The event welcomed SAM Members, friends of SAM, vendor partners, and strategic partners.
Representatives from SAM Strategic Partners such as Singapore Airlines (SIA), HLA Lifestyle Wellness Centre, Myanmar Airways International (MAI), and Mingalar Sky Lounge introduced about their products and services.
Mr. Sridhar P.R, Head of Business Committee, SAM, discussed upcoming business activities while Ms. Amie, representing the Charity Committee, introduced our upcoming charity project: 3rd Batch of Bicycle donation and called for donors to support this meaningful cause.
New SAM T-Shirts sponsored by Singapore Airlines were launched for sale, with proceeds allocated to upcoming SAM Charity Projects.

Notice is hereby given of the Special General Meeting (“SGM”) which will be held on 13 June 2024 (Thursday), 4.00 – 5.30 p.m and SAM Members’ Night 2024, 5.30 – 7.30 p.m. MMT (dinner included).  The SGM will be in hybrid format and the venue shall be in PARKROYAL Yangon. After SGM, Singapore Hawker Food Dinner will be served during the SAM Members’ Night 2024.

All SAM Members are cordially invited to attend the SGM and the SAM Members’ Night (free entry for all SAM Members).

There is also an opportunity for them to join SGM and Free Entry to SAM MEMBERS’ NIGHT 2024, after joining the SAM membership: Ordinary Member (USD 40/ MMK 120,000 per person), Associate Member (USD 70/ MMK 210,000 per person) and Corporate Member (USD 100/MMK 300,000 per company for 2 persons) for one year.

Singapore Association of Myanmar (SAM) conducted our virtual Annual General Meeting (AGM) on 26 August 2022 (Friday) to update our members on what the outgoing executive committee had accomplished during its term and to elect the new executive committee for 2022-2024.
 
Firstly, we would like to thank our SAM Patron, Her Excellency, Ms Vanessa Chan, Singapore Ambassador to Myanmar, for her encouraging address and wishes to all SAM members.
