The SAM Charity Committee visited the Kayin Chaung Station Hospital with a volunteer team from SingHealth before the Lunar New Year. Dubbed the “Singapore Hospital”, Myanmar’s Kayin Chaung Station Hospital – a symbol of friendship between the two countries – has brought critical health care to isolated villages in the Ayeyarwady Delta along the Twante Canal headed towards the sea.
The visiting team, consisting of medical specialists and physiotherapists, conducted a series of health screening for residents of Kayin Chaung, as well as residents from neighbouring villages. More than 400 patients were screened that day and given medicine based on their diagnosis.
We are also glad that the Nurses Wing donated by SAM last year is being put to good use and thank all members of the Singapore Embassy and SAM for their support and contributions.
